LETTER OF THE MONTH — JANUARY

Class numbers

THE school my daughter is attending has three streams of Year 1 with all of them having rolls of more than 47 pupils and I believe they are just overcrowded.

I sincerely believe that the number of students in one class is just too many especially at the lower primary school level and my concern as a parent is that with these numbers in one class, it is not doing any justice to both teachers and students.

Can the Ministry of Education please see to it that the numbers of children in one class should not exceed 30 especially at lower primary school for it is the very important stage of their upbringing regarding formal education.
