The picture of 30 new ambulances given by China parked at the Nasinu Police Special Response Unit compound brings comfort to Fijians, knowing that wheels during emergencies are plenty.
The mind quickly associates this new fleet with the current morning traffic jam but it is OK, as ambulances get the right of way, with sirens blazing heading to the hospital.
But then our mind asks, "Do we have enough doctors on duty to look at those who are rushed in by ambulances?"
There are so many cars on our roads with only a few exits into the city which causes traffic jams and similarly, we can rush in patients to the hospital in the many ambulances we have, but a patient jam could be experienced in the hospital if there is a shortage of doctors.
My point is, we all applaud the 30 new ambulances from China, but could we also ensure that our hospitals have enough doctors on duty at all times!Home | Top
