Issue of patriotism

The editor's comments on "patriotism" sums up why we are Fiji — the world can see.

We have seen and heard courageous stories of how our past and present rugby players continue to remain passionate playing rugby despite setbacks.

Who can forget the rugby sevens World Cup of 1997 when my best in the game, the late "Steelman" Aminiasi Natuiyaga despite being sick, played the final and spat blood. He risked his life, but guts and passion to die for Fiji remained.

Jerry Tuwai's double setback for many would have simply just surrendered and said "I can't take it especially when his performance declined in the recent games".

He came back in Hamilton with a super captain's performance that would now give him courage to take up the leader's role and keep improving.

Lastly, just like Ben Ryan who never enjoyed success, let's take our hats off to Gareth for this win as he faced enormous struggles with resources and expertise.

To the next leg in Las Vegas, all the very best and do not forget to return all the glory to God and start again with an empty sheet.
