Livestock, root crop theft

It would be beneficial to all for Government and our police force to utilise the resources currently being focused on eradicating marijuana to fighting against the ever increasing theft of livestock and root crops throughout the country.

On one hand Government wants to grow our agricultural sector while on the other they are promoting the theft of livestock and root crops by not coming down hard on thieves as they do with cultivators of marijuana.

On a daily basis we are experiencing ruthless behaviour from thieves and while most cases are being reported to police, nothing seems to be being done about it and thieving continues to thrive.

Thieving of livestock and root crops must cease in order for the sector to progress. The question that needs to be asked is, Why aren't the authorities dealing with livestock and root crop theft as they do with marijuana cultivators?

Are they assuming that their fight to eradicate marijuana will resolve the problem? If so that assumption is nothing more than a fallacy!

I believe the priority here are the farmers of livestock and root crops, not marijuana farmers!
