Congratulations Australia

The young Australian side must be complimented for belting South Africa in the Sydney 7s final and winning on home soil since the glorious victory in 2002 when the Aussies beat the All Blacks 28-0 in the final of the Brisbane 7s at Ballymore Stadium.

These young and gutsy men were possessed with some kind of spirit that blew the Boks away.

Hats off to veteran Stannard and Captain Holland for leading the pack!

Young guns in Parahi, Anderson, Porch and O'Donnell stood tall and denied the Boks any room to showcase their speed and skills and the win provided enormous belief for the Aussies moving forward as they showed their aggressive defensive system and support play under the guidance of Andy Friend.

I have never seen such a determined Australian side who intimated the series leader with hard hits, compressed defence and team work.

Indeed a remarkable win for the Aussies who finished 5th in Dubai and 9th in Cape Town.

On the other hand, consistency is needed as far as Fiji is concerned and our friend Spencer Robinson mentioned this in the letter (29/01) titled "Consistent performance needed".

It's time that Fiji emulates Australia's pattern of "stubborn, in your face defence" to stand any chance of winning a tournament.

Australia also made a double after the women's side won the title and in the process kept a clean sheet.

The women's side thrashed NZ 31-0. Congratulations Australia for breaking the drought!

Isa, when will we see Fiji play like the young, aggressive and fearless Aussies who proved critics wrong!

I hope that Baber and the boys will bury their disappointment in Sydney and show the world that we are capable of winning tournaments.

Go on Mr Baber, we are dying to enjoy the glorious days that we saw under Ben Ryan.

Please don't forget that Fijian fans are impatient when it comes to 7s.

Toso Viti toso!
