Fiji rugby fans will be disappointed with our recent outing and understandably so.
We played some good rugby in the tournament especially with the win over New Zealand in pool play being the highlight.
But apart from that, we played some error-riddled rugby, with poor defence (our midfield defence was particularly exposed), and we were mediocre in maintaining possession.
Something that stood out like a sore thumb was the fifty-fifty passes that we were throwing.
Sevens rugby is not an easy game as it is played at pace from start to finish.
When the momentum was on our side we hurt ourselves with fifty-fifty passes. The intention may be well intended in continuing the momentum and maintaining pressure but the accuracy will always be 50 per cent.
To improve in the next tournament we need to be accurate in all facets of the game and ensure that those passes go to hand.Home | Top
