My favourite

I ended 2017 with my favourite newspaper. After a short break, I am now resuming the year again with the same newspaper. Long live The Fiji Times. You are the best newspaper in the country. I will be with you until the end.

and Jetsam

I couldn't stop laughing after reading your story about pork in your Flotsam & Jetsam (FT 23/1). Call it what you want; pork, vuaka, suar or whatever, it causes breathing problems and gouty arthritis to some. It's the same in US, Fiji, and the world over. No difference. Be careful!

a break

Our PM and A-G have been working very hard and whenever you read any newspaper one will see the two of them holding meetings or opening buildings. Please Mr PM and Mr A-G, both of you deserve a break and should delegate some of work to other MPs who can do something. I admire the hard work but we all are humans.

7s series

First our HSBC World Sevens Series has already started. This week we have the Sydney 7s then Hamilton the week after. Then Las Vegas and Vancouver, Hong Kong then the Commonwealth Games. To London and Paris then the Melrose Cup at the World Sevens at San Francisco in July. It is really a busy year with two extra games of sevens. So we need an extra fit team somewhat like the First Light Taveuni 7s team.

Rest in

It is with a heavy heart that I read about the demise of former Nadroga and national team striker Mosese Jese a.k.a. Jese Morgan. Apart from being a gentleman, the tall, fast and furious striker was a thorn for defenders. He was part of the Stallions when the boys from the Coral Coast ruled Fiji soccer and boasted big names in Anirudh Singh, Bineshwar, Tuilawaki, Naitasiwai, Tubi, the Work and Watkins brothers, Tulalevu, Nawalu, Dutt and Vinod Kumar. Jese was a joy to watch and he was good at aerial balls and he scored some beautiful goals for Nadroga and Fiji. The soccer fraternity also lost former Ba goalkeeper Afroz Nabi. Nabi was a good goalkeeper during his prime days. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the two former soccer stars and I thank them for giving soccer fans memorable moments!
