Blitzbokke coaching staff

It doesn't come as a surprise that Blitzbokkes coach Neil Powell has roped in firepower in veteran Renfred Dazel as his assistant after the departure of Paul Delport to the position of head coach for the Springboks women's 7s team.

Powell, Delport and Dazel had success with the Blitzbokkes under the days of former coach Paul Treu and Powell has the rugby brains with him that gives the Boks the edge over Fiji, England, Samoa, Australia and USA.

Powell knows that Delport, the former Boks 7s captain, and Dazel have tons of experience playing in top level tournaments in the WRSS and getting them as part of his management gives him all the able support and assistance that he needs.

Perhaps, our 7s team should do the same. We need to rope in players who have played in the WRSS because they are familiar with the expectations and challenges.

Former Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan, for instance, sought the services of Chris Cracknell, who captained the England team in the WRSS.

It's high time FRU does the same. At present, we have Saiasi Fuli as assistant coach and Jone Niurua as manager.

I may be wrong but it's imperative that we have the right expertise to help Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber as he prepares his team for the Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup 7s.

No use complaining when the tournaments would be over.

The Blitzbokkes have shown us the way.

The All Blacks have Tomasi Cama Jr in their coaching panel.

I wonder what's stopping FRU from getting former players who have proved themselves in the WRSS?
