New Year celebrations

It was a surprise to have a quiet Christmas and New Year in the Nawaka Village backroad in Nadi, to be welcomed with the New Year revelry and musical beat of youths in Lakeba St, Samabula, who did their thing in style as they marched the neighbouring streets at nights.

For Nadera residents, such beats and march has been a street attraction during the first week or two of the New Year, but to see it happening in Samabula this year, is just a joy to watch. We have been enjoying hot weather lately with some showers and it is a delight, when cooling down at night outside of the house to see some free entertainment from our young people.

We have seen the military tattoo and it would be fun to see youth groups in different neighbourhoods in Fiji strut their stuff with their own brand of creative beats and moves.

To all the young people involved in the magical entertainment using bottles, tins, plastic containers etc to make delightful music and beats; a prosperous and fruitful New Year to you all.
