Sevens magic

Sevens magic is back in 2018.

It's a big year for sevens and a suggestion to the Fiji Rugby Union to continue identifying local talents from major sevens tournaments like the upcoming Saunaka and Mana Coral Coast sevens.

Do not confine your selection to the 20-25 selected players that are told to report to camp.

We have also seen a restriction of national reps playing in local tournaments. I agree there is a big risk of injury, however, consider the competition that is required.

Alternatively, we hardly hear the team camping at the Uprising and having competitive matches with big teams in Fiji sevens.

Please include a team from Yasawa or Ra or Sigatoka or Labasa or Kadavu to match and bring competition during the camp and preparations.

I think leaving a week earlier and preparing at the tournament venue is not a good strategy anymore.

It may apply during the Olympics or Commonwealth, but not in the World Rugby Series.

We need a big test of local talent and competition.

The Fiji team needs to battle and fight the war here at home on local talent and then prepare for the World Rugby series or the Commonwealth.

The battle at home is far tougher than the World Rugby series.

Go Fiji, go — all the way. Every sevens player in Fiji is putting up their hands for selection
