Nacebe's departure

Just when I thought a star was in the making for the Fiji 7s team, Nadroga rookie and Fiji Airways Drua flyer Peceli Nacebe decided to do otherwise and I read that he is on the verge of signing a contract with a French club.

I sighed — our loss and another gain for French rugby. It doesn't come as a surprise that Nacebe, who showed his class and weaved his sheer brilliance and magic for the Fiji Airways Drua side before being sidelined with an injury, has decided to leave our shores.

Another Stallion is bound to make French newspaper headlines. This is the rugby culture where our talents continue to get contracts overseas and our national team loses gifted playmakers like Talebula, Ragamate and Matawalu. But then Fiji can boast of many more Nacebes who are ready to fill the gap left by the ace playmaker.

I'm just hoping that Nacebe gets the right club and direction so that in the near future he could represent his country.

We will continue to lose talents because we can't afford what the tier one clubs are offering and every rugby player dreams of playing top level rugby.

Anyways, my best wishes to Peceli Nacebe as the Stallion prepares to launch his international career. Moce mada Nacebe and hoping to see you don the Fijian jumper soon and very soon!

Your sizzling runs will be missed by your fans.
