Christmas indeed is a special time to enjoy with families and friends and spread goodwill, peace, harmony and good race relations.

All over the world people celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ with much joy and anticipation for a good outcome.

At home, there will be no exception for bright and sunny days ahead as we head into 2018.

Compared with our days when we were children, Christmas today is an expensive affair as the price of goods has gone up and the toy guns, buses and dolls have been replaced by electronic gifts that children are showered with.

Christmas has become individualistic rather than the good old days where the extended family gathered for merrymaking and feasting.

Anyway, let's embrace the welcoming spirit of celebration and work together for a common cause and that is a better Fiji.

Once again on behalf of my family, I wish my Fijian brothers and sisters a merry and blessed Christmas.

Let's enjoy the day and the provisions provided by the good Lord while reflecting on the need for a safe celebration without drinking and driving and mischief.

To the staff of The Fiji Times, thank you for all the hard work and continue with the ethics of journalism.

It will take our number one newspaper far.

May we be blessed with peace, happiness and prosperity.

Cheers!
