We are having a garage sale and have hundreds of books (among other things) that we wish to sell. One buyer came with her children and a child said, "Mom, look novels". They bought some. The Minister for Education has mentioned the importance of reading. In this day and age with electronic gadgets, reading is a dying art (I hope not). It was heartening to see this family of readers.

E-Ticketing
I just hope that e-tickets would actually be introduced after a few years delay. I believe it was done in a hurry and it subsequently failed the first time.

Paris deal
Despite United State's rejection, all effort to make them respect the commitment to the Paris agreement should be hailed.

Meter reading
A number of letters have appeared in this column on FEA's estimated meter readings. FEA rightfully justified the concerns raised. I wish to offer a solution that can save meter readers visiting hundreds of thousands of meters. Just about everyone now has an iPhone. Meters can be scanned, photo taken and transmitted straightaway to the accounts section of FEA. Imagine the savings for FEA? Allow the consumers to do that and have it legislated.

Asbestos threat
I wonder if any from the group of men who were involved in the building of the Suva Civic Centre and other buildings around the Capital City built during that era was ill affected from asbestos?

7s laws
Can we consider bringing in top sevens referees who officiate in the World Rugby Sevens Series to Fiji to hold clinics on the changing laws of the modern game? These clinics will enable local 7s coaches to take this information down to the grassroots level and spread the message in the best language possible. By the time a player is selected for national duties the rules of the game are at his fingertips and all that is required by any good coach is to blend this to make a winning formula. Go Fiji 7, na lawa ni qito ya vitu.

Long pipe
To my friend National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad, the municipal elections are in the pipeline. But it's a very long pipe ... I heard.
