Felix, Margaret, Shayal and Repeka of The Fiji Times did a very good job bringing the inside news about how our sugarcane farmers struggle daily.

The story is an eye-opener. I am sure my Government, which always has a heart for the people, will assist the farmers in whatever way it can.

The stories these journalists wrote are all true, believe me, because as a farmer's son I know the suffering of these people.

I understand the general election is around the corner and some political parties will politicise the issue.

Please politicians we are dealing with humans who suffer every day just to put food on the table and to move the economy forward. One time, sugar was the backbone of Fiji's export and I am sure my Government has a plan for the industry. It's about time we unleash the master plan to revive the sugar industry.
