IT is indeed encouraging to see the momentum built around Fiji's COP 23 presidency, seeing local municipalities take on the theme of climate change at their respective local festivals.

This year's Hibiscus Festival theme on climate change should also serve as a reminder that every individual can contribute to climate action during the festival.

The amount of rubbish left behind by the public in recent years is concerning. Plastics, empty takeaway boxes, plastic bottles and etc.

Can the organisers provide more rubbish bins around the festival grounds? Can the organisers refrain stallholders from cutting down trees (coconut leaves and plants) to decorate their stalls?

Pot plants do the same job perfectly. Let us begin to practise what we preach.
