By 1pm, the people of Vanuabalavu were in Lomaloma, paying for their own transport costs, some walked long distances, while those from surrounding islands hired boats to be in Lomaloma for this promotion.
The lunch was ready but there was no sign of the team, nor the sighting of any shipping vessel out in the horizon. If we put ourselves in the shoes of the people of Vanuabalavu who came out to Lomaloma expecting to meet the ministry team, I believe we would not be impressed considering the distance and costs involved to get to Lomaloma.
In this day and age, with the availability of communication technology, a simple phone call was the solution. While government teams are being paid while on such trips, the people are not, and their time is valuable as they have their own tasks to do for the day.Home | Top
