Defensive driving

Hans B. Boernke, Savusavu | Saturday, June 3, 2017

IN response to Shamal Chand's letter appealing for a 100 per cent pass rate, I would like to point out that such a demand is preposterous.

I believe the ground rule for all testing is 50 per cent plus for passing.

We all make mistakes and passing those courses even with 100 per cent does not eliminate accidents.

Should all driving licence holders adhere to the rules laid out in the road code book and use common sense, those defensive driving courses would be obsolete.

In fact, I believe they are just another revenue earner for LTA.

I believe there is no proof at all that an accident has been avoided by passing those courses, which are solely theoretical.
