School discipline

THE report (FT 31/05) that 15 teachers a week are disciplined for abuse and other disciplinary cases is shocking. If this were to happen each week of the school calendar, that would mean about 615 teachers (average number) will be disciplined. That's too high.

Corporal punishment is banned.

Some teachers still don't understand that or just don't care.

According to the report we now have child rights, good!

Is it working? Why are teachers losing their temper? What is the root cause of this?

Are they overworked, are they behind in finishing a given curriculum and they get frustrated or are the students continuously misbehaving?

It would be good to make a list for the public to know.

And there is the report of school heads misusing school grants.

Could this be termed larceny by servant?

I don't know.

Anyway, now that we have a list of teachers being disciplined, can the ministry give us a list of the students who have been disciplined, expelled or whatever, no names just numbers and the type of cases.

This is to balance the scale, so to speak, on teachers, students ratio discipline. To be fair.
