Teacher discipline

PROVERBS 22:15, ESV - "Folly (foolishness) is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him."

Proverbs 23:13, ESV - "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die."

Proverbs 13:24, ESV - "Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him."

Proverbs 29:15, ESV - "The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother". (And father)

For students educated through to the 1980s, discipline at school is what has made us what we are today.

If we were to deal with our old school teachers the same way we do now, it is likely that all of them would have lost their jobs for their hardline disciplinary tactics.

We learnt the hard way, but it definitely did most of us a load of good!

Straps or cane lashes to one's calf muscles or buttocks was a regular thing that made us learn hard and fast the principles of right and wrong behaviour and taught us in turn to treat our teachers with utmost respect.

We seem to be leaning towards man-made rules over God-given ones and it obviously ain't working!

All one has to do is look at what is happening to the first worlds that we are seeking to emulate to pass sound judgement on where we are leading our children?

Remove the blinkers!

Our children need to learn good principles!
