OHS compliant

LABOUR Minister Jone Usamate said in Parliament on Friday that the owners of businesses, management and workers must work together to make sure workplaces are OHS compliant.

The old "heritage" FVB Building, now the Government Information Centre in central Suva had, in August 2014, an advertisment added to the facade facing Ganilau House. To do this an emergency fire stair was removed.

The Department of Heritage; Public Service Commission; Local Government; the National Fire Authority; Suva City Council and the Department of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) were all informed of the lack of a fire stair but for almost three years that building has been occupied without any new fire stair being installed !

Can this matter be rectified, please?
